Dying the Conscious Death
I highly recommend Ian Gawler's book entitled "You can conquer cancer". Kian Foh gave me this book after my surgery in IJN in March. I re-visited this book a few days ago and gained new perspective. And I re-read the chapter on death and dying.
I just quickly scanned thru this chapter early in my healing process. I was very uncomfortable delving on death,and prefer to spend time on healing chapters! His chapter on death is a celebration of life, and dying the good death. Loved this chapter. He in turn recommended a book by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross entitled "On Death and Dying".
He talks about a conscious death. To die suddenly like in an accident and during sleep is a missed opportunity. He prefers to die consciously slipping gently into another realm, preferably with a smile.
