I-friendly

I cringe everytime I see the phrase "environmental-friendly" in products or routinely proclaimed by people. I don't know, it seems to imply that we are doing the environment a favour. Hah, the environment is able to take what we throw at her. She can take care of herself. She has been here for billions of years and will still be here and evolve after we human are long gone.

Maybe "human-friendly" will bring a different perspective. When we thought we are protecting the environment, we are actually protecting ourselves. We are not doing anything or anyone else a favour; we are doing it for ourselves.

The harm we do to the environment comes back to us. In the long run, nature will able to adapt. It is us human who suffer from our own uncaring attitude. Dirty rivers, hazy air, poisonous agriculture products, bare trees, unmanaged rubbish...who cares if we humans don't complain?

When we try to conserve, preserve, protect, enhance and repair the damage done by fellow-humans, for whom do we actually try to do it for? It's for ourselves!

Nature will take the abuse, she doesn't care, she has adapted and will continue to adapt.

Maybe "human-friendly" is not personal enough...try using "I-friendly". :)

Happy World Environment Day (5 June)
